They showed us how to make a common Hawaiian hand gesture called "shaka". The "shaka" sign is a common greeting in Hawaiian culture. They took their camera outside to show us the most famous landmark in Hawaii, Diamond Head! They can see it from their school window! Diamond Head is a lasting remnant of a volcanic explosion that happened a very long time ago.
Diamond Head was once an active volcano, but it hasn't spewed ashes for more than 150,000 years.
Their school, Punahou, has over 4,000 students in grades K-12th. One of the most famous men in the world went to school and graduated from Punahou School. He's in this picture!
