Same Day in March 2015 . . . Global Weather Project . . .

We started an exciting new project in class today called "Same Day in March". We're joining other classrooms around the world to learn about and compare weather! We'll be working on this until the end of March. On March 20th, the first day of spring, we will compare weather with all of the other participating classrooms. Classrooms are participating in the USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, and Kazakhastan! I wonder how many of those classes will have the same type of weather on March 20th as we will?! All of the classes are also reading the same book, On the Same
Day in March, for which the project is named. In the book we will navigate the globe to learn what attire and activities are appropriate for the same day in March! Each day we'll have 2 meteorologists in our class that will look up and chart our high and low temps in Fahrenheit and Celsius. They will record the information on
our "Same Day in March" weather chart. We also discussed the saying for March "In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb". We started March like a lion yesterday with freezing rain and temps in the 30s, but we already had lamb weather today with sunny skies and temps in the 60s. North Bend, NE and
Napier, New Zealand came in like lambs, but all of the rest of the classes reported coming into March like lions. We'll be tweeting with other classes participating! Stay tuned to see what we'll be learning.

Sunny skies in Mooresville, NC today! We had temps as
high as 65ºF. Hard to believe it snowed less than a week ago! Great weather picture by photographers Wes Griggs
and Luke Johnson.
