Free, imaginitave play is crucial for normal social, emotional and cognitive development! It makes us better adjusted, smarter, and less stressed. Play is such an important part of creativity. These are the reasons that Global School Play Day was started! The decline of play in our culture is overwhelming! Check out the following link to see a video by Dr. Peter Gray in which he brings attention to the reality that over the past 60 years in the USA there has been a gradual but overall dramatic declind in children's freedom to play with other children, without adult direction.
