Our First Mystery Skype . . .

Eliminated states from clues and questions!
We had our first Mystery Skype! A Mystery Skype is when two classes ask each other questions. The classes don't know where each are located, so we ask questions to get clues! The class was west of the Mississippi River. They also bordered Mexico. Have you guessed it yet? If not, one more clue is that their state borders the Gulf of Mexico. I bet you know it now . . . you're right, it's Texas!
Here's a new friend from Texas!
Students have roles in a Mystery Skype. There are two greeters, 4 or 5 question askers, and the team members that help decide what questions to ask. As we learn clues, we mark states off of our maps to eliminate. It's a LOT of fun! After we guess states, each class shares information about their schools and states. It was sunny and 75ยบ at their school. We showed them Cookie and one of our geckos.

Jaeleigh is asking them a question. All
questions should be "Yes/No" questions.

Mystery Skype is such a great and fun way to learn vocabulary, discover other states, and make friends allaround our country and world! Looking forward to more Mystery Skypes soon!

We're cheering when we have guessed
correctly that the class is in Texas!
We learned that they have rodeos!
Here are some 3rd grade experts from
my last year's class. They came to assist
us for our first Mystery Skype!
