Homework . . .

As you have learned, we are doing homework a little different this year! I have really put a lot of though and research into this. Reading books is the number one way to increase reading ability. Part of homework is to read each evening for 15 minutes or more. This can be done right after school, before bed, after dinner, in the car, etc. I am asking for 15 MINUTES! There is absolutely no excuse (except in rare occasions) to not be able to make this happen. Your child can sign the book that he/she read in the FROG Binder on the reading log. Parents may do this as well. Please initial! I'm going to share a graphic with you that REALLY hits home how important reading is each day.

Students may read independently, out loud to a parent or sibling, or listen to you read (sometimes, not always). All of this is considered daily reading!

The math portion of our homework will be math games. Students will bring home a folder each Monday with a math

game in it. Please find a place to keep math games at home!

Continue to play games from previous weeks as well. The hands on math games will increase math skills and understanding as well as serve as a fun family activity. Math folders should be returned on Friday. 

Parents, PLEASE don't let this lack of "worksheet/paper" homework serve as a pass to have "no homework". These skills are so important! By only doing reading and playing math games, your child should have more time to play outside and spend time with friends and family. The goal is for this homework to be more meaningful and beneficial to your child's learning!
