Skyping w/Charley Bejna . . . Iditarod Musher . . .

We recently had a wonderful Skype with a musher! Do you know what that is? A musher is a sled driver in a dog sled race. We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to Skype with Charley Bejna. He is now competing in the Iditarod Trail Race, which is a sled dog race that is over 1,150 miles long. It was SO great talking to him. Charley introduced us to several of his dogs. Many of them are named after types of American bears. Two or his favorites
are Black and Brown. They are racing with him. Charley was in Alaska at the time preparing for the race. It was just a few days before the Iditarod, which is going on now. This will be Charley's 4th Iditarod, and he is hoping to finish in the top 30. One of his largest challenges is that he is a diabetic. He is showing people that it can be done. We will be Skyping with him again after the race to find out how it went, how his dogs are, what his challenges were. Can't wait! Go Charley!
