Making Elephant Toothpaste . . .

We recently had a science experiment in which we made Elephant Toothpaste. Elephants have big teeth, right? Here's what we used: hydrogen peroxide, dry yeast, an empty water bottle, food coloring, warm water, and liquid
dish soap. Using a funnel, we put the peroxide into the bottle. We added food coloring and dish soap. Next, we swirled it around gently to mix the liquids. In a small cup, we put warm water and yeast. Next, we poured that mixture into the water bottle . . . AND . . . foam!!! This happened because the yeast mixture removed the oxygen peroxide QUICKLY! Because it happened so quickly, lots of tiny bubbles were made causing foam.
